Lingerings of Humility and Pride talk.

The Lord has been revealing an area of sin in my life revolving around the sin of pride. So as you can guess, Steve and I were discussing humility and pride the other night. As we were rounding out the discussion he read this page from Dr. Ware's book that he is reading for his Systematic Theology class. I found it especially helpful.. it resonated with my heart.

Quote from Dr. Bruce A. Ware's book: God's Lesser Glory
The Diminished God of Open Theism
page 228
And our good is found in humble submission, joyful obedience, wholehearted surrender - and in no place else. We find our greatest joy when we realize our wholesale need to depend on God.

Linda,
Reading what was quoted here, this scripture came to mind:
"He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor punished us according to our iniquities. For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is His mercy toward those who fear Him." Psalm 103:10-11
Isn't the Lord awesome?...great mercy for us who humbly submit ourselves to Him and His ways...the reward...joy!
Thanks for the encouragement!

thank you...it's so hard for me to picture "wholehearted surrender" as for my good sometimes. Definately a concept to ponder! Looks like you've been doing some good reading
